Hitoribocchi Episode 2: Ocarina of Bocchi

To people who are going to say, “She’s playing a recorder”. I just got back from a painful emergency trip. I NEED something fun to relax my head.

Nako is upset with Bocchi.jpg

Nako upset with Bocchi.

Just when Bocchi thought things were going smoothly for her she got her new (girl)friend upset. What happened? We’d find out soon enough. BUT FIRST!

Aru Honshou.jpg

Bocchi and vice-president Aru Honshou.

While slumping she was noticed by the fuku-kaichou Aru Honshou who offered to help. Of course it took  a bit before Bocchi let her stand close. As she sorrowfully looked at Nako Aru told her to explain the situation so they could find a way for the two to patch things up. Bocchi proceeded to tell her EVERYTHING.

One evening as Bocchi consulted her trusty “guidebook on making (girl)friends” she noticed the “Share your troubles” chapter. She was ready to make the next step in strengthening their bonds. The next day however, this was the first line she was able to utter.

Bocchi's impressive skill.jpg

Most impressive skill.

Nako got to the point inviting Bocchi to explore the school with her, which she gleefully accepted.

Bocchi's recorder.jpg

Bocchi’s recorder she used to play “Kai’s Lullaby”.

As the two explored Nako played an adorable running gag on the adorably naive Bocchi. Best part of their tour was when they found the girls’ bathroom.

After passing notes on going to the roof Bocchi showed her the “guidebook” and told her about the chapter. Bocchi needed a double take before realizing she succeeded. Nako proceeded to share her trouble, a certain adorable weirdo. Bocchi’s reaction?

“Can this girl be my friend too!?” -Adorable weirdo, 2019.

Aru reaching her limit.jpg

Aru’s “SHE’S STILL GOING!?” face. Don’t worry Aru. Bocchi was just about to get to the point.

And so we finally reached the most important part where Bocchi told Nako all about her quest to win back Kai’s love and Nako was understandably like “So you’re just using to get back with your old flame, huh?”

Aru was like “Why didn’t you start your explanation from there!? Anyway I’ll help you two kiss and make up” Aru was like “Just tell her how you feel”, leading to the below line.

Bocchi is a chick magnet.

After the two kissed and made up Nako agreed to help Bocchi on her quest…despite Bocchi herself sparsely remembering what she’s doing. Bocchi suggested Aru be the next cutie to court.

The unfortunate fuku-kaichou.

The following day our duo discovered something interesting about Aru. She’s very unfortunate due to her making many mistakes.

Aru's tsundere joy.jpg

The unlucky tsundere.

Nako pointing out Aru’s flaws hurt her feelings and she ran off. The two hurried over to apologize and with Nako’s help Bocchi was able to get another girl to fall for her. She has a wannabe delinquent and an unlucky tsundere in her harem while she herself is an adorable absent-minded weirdo who had a hard time understanding tsunderes or taking jokes…It’s like Bocchi is my spirit animal.

Miss Arca J described Bocchi as the love child of Mya-Nee and Osaka (Azumanga Daioh). An accurate description, yes.

If an Ocarina can be a flute, a recorder can be an ocarina!

I hope Bocchi is able to make friends with the adorable weirdo. She sounds cute and I want to meet her.

The best part of Bocchi’s story was when she realized Aru was there.

I doubt I’ll ever understand fashion. Coathanger shoulders just seems weird and uncomfortable to me.

Aru having to check after Nako’s comment… priceless.

Bocchi is a strong contender for most relatable anime character 2019.

Yay, my favourite girl Aru appeared ^^ I hope she’s going to sing to herself…

Sulking Nako is so huggable. And I ship her with Aru (still haven’t decided which girl is the destined one for Bocchi).

Bocchi’s giggle while she’s adventuring with Nako is so charming. Such a happy, adorable little girl magnet.

It’s surprising the thing that gets Nako angry is Bocchi telling her the reason she become friends is because of a promise. Should have just made new friends and forget about Kai at that rate. Still, it’s funny how Bocchi ends up making her app logy sound like a love confession again.

Kind of felt bad for Aru. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of luck. Then again, Hanakoizumi Anne probably have worse luck than her.

    This is a fun show.
I don’t really get the recorder joke? Maybe it’s a like a pun in Japanese?
I like that the explanation went on for so long that Botchi forgot that Aru was there.
The classical tsundere line backfiring was really funny.
    That ED was really good.

This episode was adorable! Upset Nako was cute. And Bocchi poking her “Sweet Spot” was great!

Bocchi with her recorder, wanting to meet and befriend the “weirdo”, the whole Nako tapping her shoulder bit, and the entire bathroom scene! I love Bocchi! She’s SO CUTE! She is currently Best Girl for now!

And i’m loving Aru! She’s a pretty fun character!

Bocchi is me in high school. I had previously attended an all-girls, Catholic school and I was painfully shy.

Nako is too adorable to by scary. That teacher needs to be more brave. Also, Bocchi is making a habit of flirting with Nako. Now, with Aru, Bocchi is approaching Morita Mayu levels of accidentally turning girls on. 😀

Bocchi is so adorable. I wanna hug her. I can’t blame Nako for trying to scare her (in a “tease your cute crush” kinda way), she can’t help it. Also, I like the height difference between the two. Perfect couple. I like Aru, she’s funny and looks like she’ll be a good friend.
I also like how their name fits their personality. Hitoribocchi means alone or lonely. Sunao nako, means an honest child. Honshou aru means having a true character, or something like that. Looking forward to see the other characters. Especially the foreigner(?) one.
