Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san Episode 9: Hunting for School Festivals

This time we joined our heroines at a school festival followed by them meeting an unexpected person.

Ellie down.jpg

What made this joke was Sophie’s reaction.

Let’s check out some highlights, shall we?

Sakuya singing a ghost story

Sakuya having a good singing voice, even though she was singing about a ghost/horror story.

I imagined Arca J singing this song.

Yuu shy about her work.jpg

Yuu may be level-headed but like most writers was too embarrassed to share her literary work.

Ellie enjoying the ghost house decor.jpg

It wasn’t much but Ellie “inviting” Hinata to check out the ghost house was nice.

Yamada and her imouto.jpg

Yamada’s return. Plus she wasn’t alone.

Yamada and Akari had a bit of a “contest”. Yamada won. Akari’s reaction was glorious. Be sure to remember it for later.

Moving right along. The next segment had Akari, Sophie and Hinata going back to casa de vampira when they saw a girl collapse. Turns out she was hungry so they helped her recover.

Vampire Hunter.jpg

Vampire hunter.

The girl in question was a vampire hunter. This of course had the girls all fidgety.

Akari protecting Sophie.jpg

Akari protecting Sophie.

This was nice. Oh, remember when I said the vampire hunter was a girl? Be sure to tell Hinata that next time. Another funny part was the reason she became a hunter.

Ellie's save.jpg

Ellie’s save.

Then Ellie showed up. It initially went as well as one would expect from someone as lively as her. Best parts were Hinata’s attempt at a distraction and Ellie’s save.

Vampire Hunter discovering Sophie's coffin.jpg

Sophie had her own excellent save.

Not going to talk about how the segment ended. Just know it was adorable.

This time we had a longer Post-ED segment than that of the previous episode.

Remember what Akari and Yamada talked about earlier? Well she brought it up again with Sophie. It being Sophie taking a bath. Despite already bathing with Ellie last time she still didn’t feel comfortable taking them. Even so when Akari invited her and the other two main girls to an onsen Sophie was like “OOOOH! Onsen scene! Just like in anime! Let’s do it!”

Suffice to say it was very nice.

Yet another delightful episode.

PS:

You can do it Ellie. Only you can save Hinata from a long period of loneliness.

The Ellie x Hinata we got was pretty good, but Ellie’s touching Akari’s ass made my whole week, they definitely put all the budget on that shot, I can’t think of any recent yuri moment as well animated as that, hopefully Ellie does something like that to Hinata too.

This episode was a nice nice, funny adition to our main romantic Yuri series in this season. Bloom into you is just much better then Citrus.

That gently but slap really looked like it took half of the budget of this anime, hopefully we will get more of this. πŸ™‚

Ellie would take a bug for Sophie. Clearly she means a lot to her.

Sakuya and Yuu made a comeback, but we didn’t get to see them together.

Yamada is definitely close to her sister.

“I didn’t mean your blood was delicious, I meant it sexually.” The most convincing lies mix in a little bit of truth.

The moral of the story is that Sophie should turn Akari after she reaches adulthood (for erotic content access), but before she gets old.

Akari, it’s not nice to ogle if you’re not going to show off yourself.

That talking doll at the festival was great.

And why did the vampire hunter, keep her vampire grandpa around, without training to kill him.

It’s nice to see some forward progress for Sophie and Akari. While Sophie wanted to further her otaku street cred by going to a real cultural festival, I think part of her wanted to be there for Akari. I’m glad that Yamada wasn’t a one-off character. (I was afraid she would disappear into the ether, or be a ghost) Her sister is very cute, and their relationship is a nice foil for Akari and Sophie.

I was hoping for more with Hinata and Ellie. (they could have, at least, held hands) Sakuya’s performance was very effective. ^_^ I have been where Yuu is. (I didn’t start publishing my stories until I was in college,)

At first I thought the vampire hunter episode would be action-packed. Then, I remembered which series I was watching. What we got was a bunch of misunderstandings, a KILLER line from Ellie (she is my spirit animal!), and a super cute vampire hunter (in a F@CKING WAISTCOAT!!!!!) who’s actually sweet and understanding to boot.

As for the service fest at the end, it does some nice things with the group bonding. Poor Hinata just can’t be honest with herself. Sophie is taking another step in her social development. And Akari gets another punch on her Perv-Card. (One more and she gets a free sandwich. ^_^)

      I wouldn’t complain if Yamada was a ghost, but I think she’s human. πŸ˜›

Publishing stories? That’s insane! I keep mine locked up on my hard drive.

Misread that as grope bonding. (I’m working towards my own sandwich. ^_^)

One step at a time for Akari and Sophie’s relationship.

Yamada’s return was appreciated and her imouto is precious.

We all want to see more of Hinata and Ellie bonding. Poor Ellie needs someone to fill her emptiness when the time comes.

It was very cool. Sakuya’s a pro.

Haven’t tried publishing a book myself. I did write an ongoing series once but never continued.

      Ellie is an inspiration.

I knew the vampire hunter would be your type.

      Akari’s naughtiness is wonderful.

  7. The bathtime scene… oh my… Ellie continues to be a true hero in every scene ❀

I also love the fact that Sophie’s dakimakura saved her #DakimakurasSaveLives

  8. I guess there aren’t many blogs in Japan. Anime has taught me that most writers are too embarrassed to show their work to anyone.

I have to admit that there would be a nice Ellie and Hinata moment with the haunted house. Still, it’s obvious that Hinata is jealous when Akari washes Ellie’s body, or maybe Akari not doing the same for her.

Still, at least it’s a good thing as the vampire hunter girl didn’t decide to vanquish Ellie or Sophie. However, the thing with what happened to her grandfather kind of reminds me of that vampire family complaining to their daughter.

Classic school festival stuff. Good as always. Maid Hinata was super cute. I also liked seeing her spending time with Ellie too, going through the haunted house together. Oh and Ellie lusting over all those young girls at the school festival was nice too.

The vampire hunter part of the ep was nice too. Said reason for becoming a vampire hunter was a bit unexpected, but I guess I shouldn’t be expecting something all serious and hard core in a show like this. Also the coffin being a pillow storage was hilarious.

The hot springs scene to close out the ep was incredible. Ellie getting all hands on with Akari was nice. Her line of wanting to stay in the bath and look at girls all day was great. Honestly I think I might like her the most, she’s so good.

Great ep, looking forward to more as always.

      Hinata is the cutest.

They are infrequent but Hinata X Ellie moments are much appreciated.

All our heroines’ attempts to hide the truth from the hunter were hilarious but Sophie’s and Ellie’s saves were the best.

Ellie is the gayest of all and it is GLORIOUS!

      We all are.

Ellie dying at the hands of that bug is a reminder that vampires have their HP reduced to 1 when under intense sunlight. They’re like a Shedinja without Wonder Guard to give them some sort of protection.

Funny how most of the places visited at the festival had an eerie atmosphere. It was bad for Sophie and especially Hinata’s hearts.

Sorry Akari, you just can’t beat the Yamadas’ sibling bond at your current level. You gotta up your game, girl!

The hoops Sophie and pals had to jump through to keep that vampire hunter in the dark was a hoot. Loved Ellie’s cover answer to the hunter’s question. Can you really call it a cover if that’s how she really feels?

“What? That girl’s hand was turning to ash in the sunlight. That means…she’s a vampire!!…who allowed me to stay at her place for the night. What a nice person.” A very understanding vampire hunter, she is.

Fascinating. Basically, Akari’s the type who enjoys being a tease but really, she’s quite shy.

Hinata, you are your own worst enemy. You poor soul…

Sophie still is afraid of baths but her respect for baths went up 100 points after seeing Akari and the others enjoy themselves in the hot springs. However, seeing them lounging in the futons right after bathing caused her respect for baths to go down 100 points. But hey, baby steps.

      Very true.

Their fear of scary stuff was adorable.

There’s still time Akari. Don’t give up!

      Ellie is a treasure.

The hunter was adorable like the rest of the show.

We learned something new about her.

      Exactly. Slow and steady.
