The date of this writing is a very special day so to commemorate this wondrous occasion the writers of the show were like, “Let’s reward OG for still believing in us whereas many others had lost faith”.
Before we get to the important stuff it must be mentioned that this time it’s Chloe’s turn to be the “Link”, meaning she’ll the central focus of this two-parter. The hint this time to the “Fragment” visited is “seclusion” since Chloe is kind of a loner. No time to chill as Team Captain Asuka called for a meeting. She wanted to go to the beach…during the Fall season, so the others didn’t feel like going.
Luckily for Asuka her #1 fan answered the call to not only grant her wish but ensure the others’ needs were met at the same time. Before going Chloe rightfully asked if there were any Clutters where they were heading. Yu-Two was like, “C’mon. You think I’d lead you somewhere that dullard T. Asuka could show up?” Also using the upgraded Cassette Players gave our heroines access to Fragments at any time and not just at 4:44 PM.
This time our heroines and Yu-Two were transported to a world covered by water and life existed on islands. It reminds of Megaman Legends and Waterworld. Let’s call this one, Oceana. Now to treat myself to the simple pleasures of life.
Asuka may be wearing a push-up top but she still has a great body.
So the deal with Oceana was that some big corporation called White Goat made it possible for everyone to easily purchase stuff online. The reason our heroines got to throw a beach party was because Yu-Two took advantage of O. Yu’s apparent disappearance. See, the island they were on belonged to O. Yu.
All Yus are gorgeous.
Back to Chloe for a bit. She’s reveling in her solitude and the things O. Chloe and her had a in common. That was until she found her notebook and a VR headset. There were hints of O. Chloe not being content with Oceana.
Unfortunately for Yu-Two she was found by T. Asuka. The two had a brief chat about them both kinda taking advantage of the OGs to accomplish their own goals: T. Asuka’s being the hunt for Clutters to find the lair of The King of Twilight. Yu-Two’s…was exactly what I thought it’d be. The reason Yu-Two likes most (not all) Asukas so much was because she’s searching for HER Asuka. Hopefully that’s the extent of it and there’s no twist of her serving the King of Twilight. If that were the case I imagine she still has her own goal.
The two had a short scuffle when they’re surprised by Yu-Two’s current sweetie. It had a neat little end to remind us all Asukas share some similarities.
Speaking of the Asukas they had a moment talking about the beautiful sunset but got a bit serious when T. Asuka reminisced about the bleakness and emptiness of her world corrupted by the King of Twilight.
Back to Chloe. We got her backstory. She lived most of her youth alone. It was said in the episode that Europeans become accustomed to living independently without needing to rely on interpersonal relationships. Basically she lived most of her youth alone but when she moved to Japan there was ironically a greater focus on socializing. She would of course join the Radio Club but feared that spending too much time with the gang would cause her to develop a fear of loneliness. I’m guessing she fears change.
That’s when it happened. While checking out O. Chloe’s VR apps she saw some strange symbols drawn in the notebook and figured out they were brainwashing codes. OG Nana, Mia and Yu were already brainwashed.
We’ll see how the Asukas, Chloe and maybe (most likely not) Yu-Two clean up this mess next time. A delightful beach episode.
Update: As samueldongdev pointed out this was an episode with an “online addiction” message. We saw that with Nana on Instagram, Mia on a mobile game and Yu on shopping. The power of subliminal messaging as was shown in O. Chloe’s notes.
