Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san Episode 5: The First Encounter and Cooking with Love Interests

In this episode we got the eagerly anticipated first encounter between Ellie and Hinata followed by two girls cooking for their one true love.

Elli Missing the Doki Doki

Elli doing the Nation proud.

We start the episode with Ellie again raiding Sophie’s blood storage. Sophie was irked but didn’t really mind though she did ask her to not gobble it all down so quickly. Ellie then was like “Okay. I’ll go find some juicy lady necks to bite” but Sophie was like “Times have changed Ellie. There are more discreet ways to get blood”. Ellie was like “Awwww. The old way is more fun”. Now it’s time for the main attraction.

Akari invited Hinata over to play. Ellie thought Hinata was “her type” but all that changed when she erroneously called her a “little girl”. Ellie was like “I’m 450 years old you boobie monster!”

If only Ellie became a vampire 4 years later…What could have been.

We got explanations on why the insults hurt both girls so much. First was Ellie’s who greatly admired her mother’s beauty and hoped she too would become as beautiful. Alas she’d been bitten too soon.

Hinata bullied.jpg

Hinata was hurt the most. Her issue was a classic case of “Boys are idiots”, meaning she was bullied for looking boyish and having big breasts. Betcha most of them grew up to become homeless breast loving street rats…or the President of the United States. Anyway Ellie got the message and went looking for Hinata to apologize.

As Hinata walked home she too realized her words to Ellie were harsh. Poor dear didn’t notice an empty can on one of the steps and was in danger of breaking her neck.

Fortunately Ellie swooped in and saved the busty tomboy maiden. The two apologized to each other and all was well.

The next segment started with Sophie helping Ellie go modern. Afterward she ran into her neighbor Miss Mori and helped carry her and her groceries. Miss Mori talked about preparing a big meal celebrating her granddaughter coming to visit. This gave Sophie the idea of doing the same to thank Akari for being her future bride.

Akari not wanting to leave Sophie alone.jpg

Funniest moment in the episode.

The next day Sophie made sure to try and stay awake all day working on her big surprise for Akari.

Sophie averting her eyes from Hinata.jpg

The 2nd best moment of the episode.

Sophie needed help and asked the one person perfect for the job. Not much to say about the rest of the segment. It’s two girls working together to cook a special meal for the most important person in their lives. There were jokes about poor cooking and obviously vampire traits. Good stuff.

Another fun episode.

Just a little more Ellie-chan, if only……..oh well, what’s done is done but perhaps Sophie will love you more as a cute teenage vampire rather than an attractive adult right?

Although it is pretty much written in stone that Akarin is deeply in love with Sophie-chan, I’d much prefer her goin with Hinata while Ellie sticking with Sophie.

    What a beautiful love rectangle.

Hinata loves Akari, loves to see her undress in the locker room, loves everything about her, and would go to bed with her in an instant if Akari returned her interest.

Akari loves Sophie and would spend the whole day dressing her up and undressing her and playing with her hair and cuddling her. And she’s so loving and patient. I just adore Akari’s voice when she’s talking with Sophie or giggling with pleasure. She knows Sophie is slow to warm up, slow to trust, and she’s fine with that, she has found her dream girl and she can wait for intimacy until after marriage or before marriage, any way Sophie likes.

Ellie wants (more of) Sophie, and Sophie obviously either is intrigued by her, or is just shy to do it again with her. I think Sophie needs to know that her lover will stay by her side forever. Ellie has seduced her before but broken her trust by leaving her.

And Hinata and Ellie are love at first sight. All their insecurities came out the moment they saw each other, a sure sign that they are deeply attracted. We know how much Hinata loves feminine girls… And Ellie could have a healthy, gorgeous girlfriend with the big breasts she is eternally lusting for.

Notice how in the ED, Akari smiles, then Sophie blushes. Hinata blushes, then Ellie gives a charming smile. It would be far too obvious if they’d shown Ellie first and then Hinata, but it’s pretty obvious now, too, just like the implied kissing in the OP.

I like the expression on Sophie’s face when things get serious, like when Hinata was going to fall. And I like how Ellie and Hinata look at each other after Ellie saves her. At that moment it was a bit of a shame the other two girls were still around, otherwise Ellie could have taken Hinata back home to “calm down” or “make up” or “have a cup of hot chocolate” or just throw her in bed and go at her ^^

Akari clearly wouldn’t mind being taken by Ellie, she’s a free girl like that even though she’s destined to be Sophie’s. And she loves the idea of watching Ellie and Sophie get intimate. Akari is the kind of bubblehead who could be seduced easily by Hinata, if Hinata just firmly took her instead of being endlessly confused by Akari’s silliness.

The only non-sexual piece of the rectangle is Sophie and Hinata, who seem to have found a trusting friendship. That’s good. A love rectangle needs one sturdy support beam so it doesn’t fall into total chaos. It just makes all the attraction and desire stronger. They share both of their love interests, so they wouldn’t mind ending up in bed all four of them.

The preview seems to promise one more sexual encounter. A love pentagon or hexagon ^^

I’m sure many will drop by and applaud you for your Yuru Yuri style dedication to this show’s love trypticon. Very commendable, proving once and for all you enjoy shows that get your love juices working the most.

Another cute one! Ellie continues to be best girl!

I really liked that carrot bit. Don’t know why, just found it very cute.

Regarding the couples, I like it to keep it simple. Just Akari x Sophie, and now this episode start with Ellie x Hinata, they fit better with each other than trying to form triangles with the main duo.

    Oh another ship? πŸ˜€
I wish they showed more of them πŸ˜› Four more years and Ellie would’ve been gorgeous but I like how cute she is now though LOL.

And Hinata sort of sounded like Tsubame there when she tried to brag about her knowledge about Akari LOL πŸ˜› And she does know a lot…a little bit too much though LOL πŸ˜›

Ellie needs to adapt to the modern times, and start a website where vampires can find humans to bite without causing a stir. She does have a point, fresh is just better than canned.

Ellie to the rescue when Hinata fell! This could be a moment they look back on for centuries.

Hinata could tell you all her classmates’ underwear and sock preferences! It’s not that she has a particular interest in Akari, she swears!

I wonder what Ellie did to get the microwave to spark.

      She may do just that.

It’ll be a wonderful memory they look back on as eternal wives.

      Not at all.

Probably bad luck with modern technology.

Of course not, but I was helping Hinata make excuses. She can’t just say “I have the hots for Akari and may have checked her out in the locker room at least 10 times this week.”

This is such a fun and comfy show~
I definitely am leaning stronger towards Akari and Sophie. Ellie’s giving the adult advances so of course Sophie reacts differently, but I’m sure once Akari starts upping her game, Ellie’s advances will just not have the same effect anymore

I personally think Ellie has it worse. Being stuck for hundreds of years being treated like a child when you knew you had potential to be something more…is comparatively more painful I’d say. Makes you wonder how long till Sophie ends up biting Akari though? Will she keep her at a slightly alluring teenager? Or wait a bit more so her body can mature? A curious question if I do say so myself.

Ellie and Hinata will likely wait until Hinata has grown some more, but maybe Hinata’d want for it to be stopped before she got too big? I’m sure it’ll be quite the quabble.

With Akari and Sophie I’d imagine it’s more going to be how long Sophie can ignore Akari’s pleas to do so XD

I don’t think the girl (I really need to learn her name…) is part of this romance quadrangle, I think she’s just a mega troll XD That’s the feeling I got from our first encounter with her. Exactly why i said she seemed fun πŸ˜‰

That’s how it always is in these shows. Akari has to be patient and one day Sophie will fully give in to her charms. One step at a time.

She’s already got her big honey so I’m not worried either.

It’s nice to see Hinata meeting Ellie for the first time. It’s understandable that they have insecurities, but this will make a nice pairing. Is this a potential for a love square? Still, it’s hilarious how Ellie tried to pay for stuff in gold bars, which is probably more valuable in the information era.

As expected, it’s nice to see Sophie and Hinata cook for the person they love.

  9. Indeed, it does seem like Ellie x Hinata could work pretty well. So I give them my blessing and wish them happiness for their (eternal?possibly) life together!

And it’s so wholesome to see Sophie trying to learn how to cook for Akari. It seems like this is the first time she’s ever done so, I’d guess…well, better to learn late than never, I suppose. Hopefully she gets even better at it and can find great non-garlic dishes to make lots of for her love!

Ellie needs to learn a lot, but I would take the gold in instant πŸ™‚

Cooking a meal if you donΒ΄t have the exact measures is hard.

I will carry you on my shoulders and I donΒ΄t care everyone else stares at me, that is how it should be, help people in need, no buts.

This is a really good anime. I like how many possible ships there are and how they are all given some screen time (of course they can’t have all the same amount).

Didn’t have to wait long for Ellie and Hinata to meet. I think they could work well together, even if they clash a little bit. Still I think they could work. I’d like to see more of they hanging out in future eps.

The vision of slightly older Ellie was a real treat, wow. If only…

The cooking segment was cute too. Nice to see Sophie trying her best to make a meal for her girlfriend, even if it had garlic in it. Going the extra mile for the one you love, that’s really special.

Fun ep as always. Looking forward to more!

We finally get an episode where Sophie reciprocates some of Akari’s feeling by cooking a meal for her. I was really irked by those boys when they insulted Hinata though, she did nothing wrong. Whats great is that I can never imagine she leaving Akari for a guy (Not that she would have in the first place!). This season has been really great for me every weekend, a moment of solace to watch so many yuri anime!

Unintentionally targeting extremely sore spots was the worst possible way for Ellie and Hinata to hit it off. Fortunately, they patched things up and had a greater understanding of each other. All’s well that ends well.

Ellie’s becoming a vampire of the modern age. She still has a ways to go and as convenient it is to just buy blood online, she still has a yearning to take it directly from a beautiful source.

Food coming out purple, a sign that it should be avoided at all costs. Only a talented few can make purple cuisine that won’t send people running, like Lisette(Stella Glow).

It was tough, but Sophie made Akari something edible with Hinata’s help. She wished it would’ve been grander though…and I bet she wanted to make a dish that didn’t use garlic but oh well.

True that. Here’s hoping it leads to something more.

Baby steps for the blonde vampire.

In due time Sophie will cook great meals without garlic. I’m sure.
