The Muscle Maid Show Episode 1: The Brat and The Commando

Here we go. The greatest challenge of the season. Will my body and mind be ready for it? “Psyches myself up” You can do this OG. Don’t worry about the brat. It’s for the muscles. It’s for those glorious muscles. RAAAAAAAAAAH! LET’S GOOOOOO! FOR THE GLORY OF YURITOPIA!

Misha and her mom.jpg

Please don’t be a one-off character hot mama.

Brat and Commando.jpg

“Breathes heavily”. Be strong OG. It’s a for a good cause.

We joined our lead retired commando at a job search. She was very specific with the kind of job she’s looking for. Of course she was denied. Still, she already had a place of work in mind, which was a certain brat’s house.

Winter at Misha's house.jpg

Winter at Misha’s house.

Unfortunately the house seemed abandoned. She recalled a year prior when she first saw the half-Russian Misha who at the time was an innocent soul…

Cupid's cursed arrow.jpg

Cupid’s cursed arrow/bullet.

…and was immediately smitten.

(Un)Fortunately she found a “Help Wanted” sign for someone to take care of the house. Guess which duty shined a light in her one good eye. She wanted to make sure it WAS the same girl living there. It was. Also she gets one brownie point for liking Tetris but that’s it. Wait a second…she’s half-Russian…Tetris…Ohhhhhhhh. Anyway the remix was cool.

Misha's dad.jpg

Misha’s dad. I like the doting dads from the PreCure franchise more. And he’s a widower…because of course his wife passed away. OF COURSE SHE DID!

Moving on dad interviewed our buff heroine but made sure to warn her about his daughter’s…mischievousness. Also to stay away from his late wife’s bedroom. Methinks the door will be opened at some point.

Tsubame Kamoi

Former Master Sargent Tsubame Kamoi.

Misha tried chasing Tsubame off right away but she brushed it off like it was another day in training. She counterattacked by muddying the brat herself. All according to plan.

Tsubame's pythons.jpg

Look at dat python.

Tsubame's abs.jpg

The day she wears something revealing her midriff will be a day to remember. I eagerly look forward to that day.

It’s even more beautiful than in the manga…”sobs”. Totally worth it…

Tsubame offered to fix her hair but Misha remembered her mom doing so, getting irked and ran off. Tsubame got to touch a (somewhat) pure maiden’s skin so she wasn’t sad.

Uzamaid Tsubame's muscles.jpg

These writers and animators really want me to keep watching, don’t they?

Okay then. Give me a beach episode and I’m set.

Tsubame's maid costume.jpg

Tsubame in her signature Muscle Maid outfit.

And so Tsubame’s transformation into the titular Muscle Maid is complete.

Scheming director Misha.jpg

Okay. I admit. This scene was funny.

So Misha tried scouting the enemy to find a weakness and get rid of her but quickly realized she’s dealing with a pro.

Misha feeling ostracised.jpg

Misha feeling ostracized.

When Misha asked “Why are you so interested in me?” Tsubame said “because you’re cute”. This reminded Misha of how others only approached her because of her looks. Tsubame was like “That’s why I want to get to know you better” and Misha was like “I’m not interested in you!”.

Tsubame confessed to.jpg

Tsubame confessed to.

This reminded Tsubame of when she was confessed to and she rejected the girl for the same reason, explaining she’s only into girls who hadn’t menstruated yet. Misha quietly left the maid describing “her type” and snuck back to her room with lunch. Misha concluded for now that “She may be a weird ass freak but she has SOME good points” to which Tsubame yelled from outside “YOU’RE WELCOME MILADYYYYY!”

Interesting relationship.jpg

Okay fine. I admit it. It wasn’t as bad or hard to get through as I thought. But I’m still only on board for the sexy muscles. That will never change. I’ll keep going to the end. After all, who else has the cojones to cover this show weekly?

Also I know what they’re doing with Misha. Her mom’s passing hit her really hard and she’s never had a good social life so here’s the Muscle Maid to save the day.

This was pretty good. I really like that she was playing Tetris and they played the tetris music while the ran away. The was a really nice touch.
That last part about her only liking “girls who hadn’t yet menstruated yet” was really hard to watch though.

It is funny, because in Russian “Misha” is a short version of “Michael”, which is a male name. But I guess, Japanese people doesn’t really care about such things. Anyway, thanks for the review! Not sure if I’m gonna watch it though, but it was helpful anyway.

Misha is a regular female. It has nothing to do with being short for Michael.

      • Ilya says:

Perhaps I was not clear enough. In Russia we have a male name, which is very similar to “Michael”, but prononsiation is different (Mikhail, something like that). And the short version of this name is Misha. So it is a little strange to me that her mother (I guess her mother is Russian) decided to call her like that. In any event, I don’t think it will bother anyone. Just a small remark from me.

I’m Russian. “Misha” is male name in Russia. Full name “Mikhail”. And i was just lying on the floor laughing xD

    • Platon says:

Misha was a boys’ name with a soft feminine sound and vowel ending until actress Mischa Barton turned it to the girls’ side. Now Misha, like Sasha, works as well in either spelling for girls and boys. Misha might be a way to update Michelle or Micaela.

At this point I don’t thing Japanese people even care about that kind of stuff. That’s why Morgana from Persona 5 is a guy and Luca from Labyrinth of Refrain is a girl.

  3. This is a big surprise for me. Got to thank Dogakobo for bringing amazing animation into this cute loiicon yuri anime. I even see this as a better yuri anime than YagaKimi. That jacked-up lolicon maid is already shaping to be one of the best anime maids ever.

  4. Mauron says:

I gave it a try, but the lolicon was too much for me. I’m out on this one.

  5. Ann Sears says:

the thing about lolicon is that, I wonder whut would happen if the loli was no longer loli. would the lolicon left the loli n seek another loli? Im really curious

  6. Red says:

I can totally understand why this show will be off-putting for many…but I liked this episode, and I’m nowhere close to being a lolicon myself.

Ha! This show is funny. I like it. Great animation.

I didn’t think this show would be as funny as it was, but man I had such a great time watching it.

I wasn’t too put off by the whole lolicon side of the show, but I can see it not being super well received because of that aspect to it. Regardless though, I really had a fun time watching this show and yes, the muscle scene was quite incredible indeed. She’s the Muscle Maid for a reason.

I need more of this show, ep 2 please!

I admit it was better than I thought it’d be. Not great but certainly a solid premiere.

It most likely won’t sell well so let’s just sit back and enjoy what we get. I’m giving it a shot for two reasons myself:

1: Muscle Maid Tsubame. Of course.
2: If Eromanga-Sensei can get away with this stuff, why can’t yuri?

Hopefully they can keep up the funny and the sexy.

It was funny. Muscle Maid, Misha and even the father were funny. I laughed a lot. I wonder what happened with Muscle Maid’s eye. But I’m sure we’ll get to that soon.

I usually don’t like bratty kids but for some reason I don’t mind this one. Probably because her enemy is a former soldier and Misha would lose to her no matter what she’ll do LOL 😛

I find that video scene funny too 😀 However, the way that Misha was trying to get proof for her dad was so naive. If she wants hard proof she should make one herself. But then again, she is still a child still pure regardless of how bratty she is and I partly blame the dad for that brattiness.

And as expected from a former soldier, Tsuname knows how to lure and ambush her target.

A really fun show this is 😀

Yup. Brat vs former commando. It makes for an interesting feud.

As you said she’s still an inexperienced brat. Her dad doted on her too much I imagine.

Very cool seeing her put her combat skills to good use. Yes.

      It’s solid so far.

  11. Why is this show so much funnier and better made than it deserves to be considering what it’s about…I actually laughed at quite a few moments in there…even if there were also quite a few absolute cringe “why am I watching this again” moments in there too…

…But I guess it does interest me a little in the direction it’s going to take, and the comedy was funny, so I might keep watching, at least for a little bit.

It could have been much worse honestly. I thought she’d be trying to lick Misha all over like a lecherous monster but she’s more like an honorable pervert, which is easier to tolerate in this case. I don’t blame anyone who walked away but I’m staying for the three reasons I told Nick.

      Don’t push yourself though.

She had muscles on hers muscles!
Similar to Kotonoha Kitan, this was a proper yuri manga on yuri magazine, Hirari, who get discontinued and survive and other magazine.

All I can say is, I wish the episode never ended. Her muscle and abs didn’t faze me. And I enjoyed their interactions!

Oh man…was laughing so hard…so very hard

They are adapting this so very well, and it’s interesting reading people’s reactions who haven’t read the manga.

Misha is absolutely fantastic, I don’t get why you dislike her OG. Hopefully you’ll warm up to her more as the show goes on, because she’s amazing! The whole cast really!

This is one of my absolute favorite mangas, and the only reason I stopped reading was because I heard an anime adaptation was on the way. Will definitely get back into it once the anime ends.

Didn’t believe my eyes at first, but they really were doing the “Akkarin” hair detachment joke XD Amusing throwback to their yuru yuri days. Pay close attention during the flashback scenes to see what I mean if you don’t remember anything like that.

This is looking to be my aots, but we’ll see how Release performs tomorrow, as it sadly will be airing too late today.

Just because the kid’s a brat, doesn’t mean she’s wrong. A creepy predator got into the house. From what I remember of the manga (before I dropped it), nothing too bad happens. But it still leaves a bitter taste in my brain. Luckily, there is a lot of Yuri to choose from, this season. ^_^

  16. I thought it’d be super creepy, even tho I’ve read the manga, but it turns out it’s actually funny, plus the maid has the type of body I am working to get, minus the abs, those are hard to maintain haha.

The confession part was like..”Ah so you were a lolicon since back” I found it hilarious.

Have to admit that the first episode is funny. Didn’t expect Misha to be a tsundere since she used to be sweet when her mother was alive. But still, it looks like she won’t be able to drive away Tsubame with all the strength she has.
