Harukana Receive Episode 10: Big Time Finals. Part 1

The wait is over. The highly anticipated finals of the Nationals Qualifier tournament was here. It’s HaruKana vs The Hype Twins for all the marbles! LET’S GO!

Big match feel.jpg

You could but the tension with a knife before the match even started.

Claire's Fang.jpg

Behind this sexy face beats the heart of a beach volleyball warrior.

It became clear to Haruka from the get-go that The Hype Twins at full power/when they’re serious, were like a nearly unstoppable force of nature.

At 0-4 Kanata had a plan. Emily sensed it and had Claire smash the ball very close to the edge hoping to catch Kanata off guard but she went for it and it looked like our heroines would score their first point.

Claire Kick.jpg

I guess kicks are legal in beach volleyball.

However, Claire surprised them with a mighty kick! Emily tried to trick Haruka with a reverse serve but Claire’s spike was too strong, smashing the ball out of bounds. Score was 1-4.

Harukana made a brief comeback targeting Claire as she seemed to be less difficult to outsmart. Score was 3-4. Unfortunately for them she quickly caught on to their strategy.

A sexy and intense match as expected.

Throughout the match Akari worried about the outcome of the match but remembered how hard both teams trained to make it this far so she cheered both teams with a familiar special dance.

One scoring montage later and it was 18-19. Kanata surprised Claire with a jump serve and it looked like they would tie the set.

However, Emily surprised them both with a spike of her own. Emily rarely (if ever) smashed the ball up to this point in televised matches.

More Flashback Marissa Bikini.jpg

Flashback Marissa is undeniably gorgeous but we all want to see present day Marissa with her Athlete Mommy body in a bikini.

We got an Emily flashback showing how she too had grown from being behind Claire to standing beside her as an equal. Emily’s rear comforted Claire in more ways than just being super hot. It helped remind her that Emily would always be there to care for her outside and inside the court.

Emily revealing her hidden power at last.

With Emily no longer holding back and them taking the first set it looked like HaruKana were in a deep pickle.

Kanata more than prepared.jpg

The old Kanata is back!

But the second set was as evenly contested as the first one. Not only that but Kanata surprised Emily by countering her Surprise Dump. Claire saw a fire in her eyes that she’d been wanting to see in this match. It was a sign that the old Kanata who beat her in the Junior Tournament had returned.

Can’t it be Friday the 14th already!? This it too good!

This anime clearly knows how to set a great first impression in each episode, really makes me want to go into my pocket dimension just to safely enjoy this in fullscreen.

Eclair’s playstyle and mentality are probably my favorvite because it exactly resembles how I play games in real life: No mercy even to your friends and practice relentlessly so that you don’t have to rely on your partner every time.

And now Kanata has put on her game face, the next ep is goin to be wild. I wonder how intense it’d be for Harukana to go up against NaruAya, the national champion team and probably the gayest pairing in the show.

Narumi LINDA!!!!!

Ah yes. This is the kind of intensity that I want to see 😀

Hitting the ball in volleyball, in general, with any part of the body is allowed as long as the basic rule of a player only touching the ball once is still there from what I know. So kicking it is allowed but if it hits any part of the player’s body afterwards is a violation.

Anyway, even if it’s a flashback Hype Mama was still there and in her bikini. I’m happy 😀 It’s a bad idea for Kanata to not expect Emily to change over the years. Supporting is her forte but that doesn’t mean she didn’t learn to some new things like attacking. I mean Hype Mama’s is their coach so that’s bound to happen.
I’m actually on Éclair’s side, is that weird? 😛 Even though it’s most likely HaruKana’s win later but still…

    Go Éclair! 😀 LOL

As I probably mentioned it a number of times in my review, this ep was so intense. I loved every moment of it and I’m so hyped to see how their match will end.

Also, more flashbacks with Marissa in that purple bikini. Ahh what a sight she is.

That it was. Pumped for the second half we all are.

She’s the fairest one of all. Here’s hoping we’ll be blessed by her presence one more time wearing that perfect purple bikini in present day. I don’t know if my body could handle such raw power.

Overall, it’s a nice first round match. While it doesn’t look like either team have a clear advantage, it’s definitely show that Emily ultimately is taking the game more seriously, after remembering what Kanata said. After all, Kanata’s words of advice definitely influenced Narumi as well as she said that there is no such thing as aces.

But still, hopefully, Haruka and Kanata will catch up and win the next set. No doubt they will.

Not much to say other than: What a match so far

I knew they’d lose the first set, am very interested to see how the final set goes. Course, the show could really surprise by having Eclair win, but I’m hoping not. I really want Harukana to make it to Nationals….Eclair has had multiple shots at the nationals already, and this is Harukana’s first time (and last chance while they’re still in school)….

Quite liked the little segment where Akari did the only thing she could~

She’s gotten to be really likable as the show went on!

Pretty good match so far. Emily’s flashback was really cool.
I’m kind of worried that if they are going to continue this match for the next episode they want have much time to show the Harukana vs NArumi and Ayasa

That was quite the start to the finals.

    Akari’s dance was great.

I had no idea that kicks were allowed in official matches. The more you know.

Anyway, this battle got me fired up. The conclusion’s gonna be something fierce, since Emily unleashed her hidden blade and the Kanata of Éclair’s past is 100% back in action. I’m sure Claire and Haruka have some tricks to show off as well.

Akari hyping them up was nice and she did with that dance she was embarrassed to do. She’s come a long way.

  12. I’m going to watch episode eleven when I finish work later today. Need to catch up on this wonderful series, as I got distracted watching Wotakoi. I’m guessing this season/series will end with this showdown? Although I suspect the twins will lose I will keep on rooting for them, as they are my fave duo.
