Our heroines were in a pickle because their opponents figured out how to stop their winning strategy but Kanata assured Haruka she had a plan. Let’s find out what her plan was.
The New Justice Team seemed to have the second set in the bag the way things were going but Kanata along with The Hype Twins noticed one crucial detail.
Kanata’s new plan was to tire out Mai. Emily saw it too. Although Mai could easily block Kanata’s Pokeys she spent a lot of energy doing so and playing defensive most of the match wasn’t the best strategy in beach volleyball. Not only that but Haruka was slowly getting better at blocking.
That might as well have been wgat she said. HaruKana made their comeback and tied the set with TNJT.
Of course the small chested duo weren’t going down without a fight and gave them their best.
Thanks to Kanata’s words and Claire’s “helpful” hint Haruka figured out that blocking the ball wasn’t the answer but countering it via a drop, winning the second set and the match.
On one side we had a couple celebrating a hard fought victory.
On the other side a sad couple lamenting this loss. Fortunately it was a bittersweet loss as both sweethearts realized they were fighting hard to succeed for the other. Mai felt bad she couldn’t help lead her beloved senpai to victory and Ai felt bad she again failed to show her dearest kouhai that size didn’t matter. They both agreed that there would always be next time and their career in the world of volleyball was far from over as they tearfully embraced each other.
Speaking of bittersweet our heroines’ victory was short lived for that first match was the only one they won whereas The Hype Twins won the whole enchillada for a second time in a row. Still, Haruka was happy they at least won a match. Kanata was a bit disappointed they didn’t get to face the twins in the finals. Luckily this tournament wouldn’t be their only opportunity to go for gold for their was also the Valkyrie Cup, an upcoming preliminary tournament to determine which teams would compete in the Nationals. I said “teams” because that year both the winnin team and runner up would qualify for Nationals. Hence the team’s goal was to make it to the Valkyrie Cup finals and face each other there.
Main reason for the above scene was to show hot mom Marissa again and Claire making an important call. Could we be seeing more from her next episode? Hope so.
Always nice seeing these two being close.
Tune in next time for more gay volleyball goodness along with escalator girl’s formal introduction.
PS: Yes. It took me three episodes to realize they’re on an escalator, not an elevator.
