Uma Musume -Pretty Derby- Episode 12: Race With Destiny

Not much to discuss in detail this episode. It was all about the heavily hyped Japan Derby 2 and the two main competitors. Instead I’ll share my highlights before going to the race itself.

Bless you Broye and your fantastic body. Also “thumb standing”…oh my.

Special Mama coming to see the big race live.jpg

The Special Mama(s) came to see their baby girl’s big race live! Awesome! Suzuka got her sweetie’s moms’ blessings to continue dating their daughter.

This. It means much more knowing where Special leans towards, yes. Also pay close attention to a certain spectator. It’s not Suzuka.

Speaking of this scene Special asked El Condor Pasa how to say “Let’s have a good race” in French. What she actually told her to say was another highlight, especially when she said the same thing to nearby bilingual horses.

Now let’s finally get to the main event, Special Week vs Broye.

Special Week vs Broye.jpg

As expected it was intense.

Broye kept a close eye on Special throughout the race intentionally waiting for her to make her move. She was familiar with Special’s strategy and was prepared to counterattack. However…

Special taps into the Speed Force.

Broye didn’t expect Special to be able to tap into the Speed Force. The faster she went though the stronger the Force’s intensity became and she looked close to collapsing. Take a wild guess who helped her suck it up for the HUGE victory.

See you next time for the G-View.

A Great Ep! Broye is definitely my # 2 Horse! Those abs! HRNNNGGG!

    The Suzuka’s Umahameha was amazing!

    “Dont Get Cocky.” “What!?” Fantastic.

It’s a nice race. Never thought that Special would make it since Broye looked really fast. I guess Special’s drive to fulfill her promise and support pushed her to victory. Still, it’s a nice touch to see Suzuka shout Special’s name.

It’s hilarious how Special say Don’t get cocky” instead of “Let’s have a good race.” It’s obvious what El Pasa is trying to do there. 😉

I imagine what if El Condor Pasa is the one who invented Google Translate, everybody’s reaction is gonna be “What?!”.

Broye’s kiss on Special Week is the best part of this episode.

After watching the last part of the episode, I feel kinda this is gonna be the last episode but I hope there’s one more next week.

I’m with Scarlett, Broye indeed the enemy but man she’s so hawt! And strong. For Special to be able to beat her, that’s the power of love. That “don’t get too cocky” was so funny. But it made El-chan happy so I think it’s okay.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m tearing up when Special Mama cried and said that’s our horse girl. This show is so good. The intense race, I mean how they do that every week.

I think there’s episode 13 but I’m not sure if it next week or it’s the Blu-Ray bonus. Either way I want season 2.

  5. Pretty sure we’re still getting one more episode indeed…and if the hyping at the end was real…we get to see all of them race each other seriously! This is exactly what I wanted to see. (Don’t disappoint me now, show!)

    It’s almost over though… sad

So much awesomeness again. Special tapping into the Speed Force is definitely due to Suzuka’s love…her girlfriend paying her back for helping her recover and race again (miraculously), essentially.

no matter how often the story got annoying sometimes, one thing this show has always done is make the races intense. And this race was NO EXCEPTION. It was also actually pretty surprising that Broye never even surpassed Special once. Special really crushed Broye’s ego with that race. It was nice seeing her feel that, after how she basically said Special (and the others) were wasting their time.

It was amazing when Special was about to lose, but her girlfriend ended up giving her that much needed recpvery, and her team gave her the final push to finish things off, getting Special to win, without Broye ever once gaining even a millimeter on her. An overwhelming victory, “don’t get ahead of yourself” indeed

I think it’s still got an episode left. we didn’t get an Ep PV, but we also didn’t get a “thank you for watching” message. So it probably isn’t over yet.

Broye have a big problem, her french is just horrible:

“plus même que Suzuka” ?? it’s not french or it’s 5 years old child french

I know this language well, I am French

Just like Vivio, Special has also grown up in a loving “2 mamas” family to become a real champion ❤

What a race! Broye was a formidable opponent and the frankly the fave but Special Week held on for the win thanks to her moms, her team and especially Suzuka, giving her that extra pep. I, too, am amazed that Broye didn’t pass Spe at least once in the race. I think that would’ve made it more exciting. Regardless, that was an excellent way of becoming #1 in Japan.

Very sneaky of you, El. That was her way of throwing some shade on Broye. That just made her more excited, though.

Those other two Horse Girls who didn’t like that taunt were going show Spe what they got…yeah, right. They were even bigger afterthoughts than Sun Visor.
