This time we joined our lovable gay horsies preparing for a festival and it was Silence Suzuka’s turn to get the spotlight during televised races.
The first highlight was Mejiro McQueen officially joining Team Spica.
Best Girl being Best Girl had a special welcoming gift for her and McQueen was quite thankful, yes.
As this tweet showed our four couples split up and enjoyed the Horse Festival at their leisure. Tokai Teio took a detour to meet up with her beloved kaichou.
Oh and Best Horse is so infatuated with McQueen their minds are synchronized.
Technically Hishi Amazon shows up randomly like Gold Ship but has less screen time so it’s not like she only appeared in episodes 1+2. She’s the flag girl in the short distance race. The crime is that this scene in episode 6 was the most screen time she’s had in the anime so far. It’s a shame because she’s the sexiest Horse Girl of them all. If only she were one of Team Rigil’s best horsies. And yes I’m sure some are shipping Amazon with Narita Brian.
So the big moment of the episode was Silence Suzuka revealing her plans to go race abroad, shocking Special Week who still wants to become strong enough to race together with her. When they were alone and Suzuka enjoyed the fact Special only really opened up to her she talked about her pony years having fun running but when she joined Team Rigil it felt like she was only racing to win. She left Rigil for Spica in hopes that she wouldn’t lose her love of running. That fear started dissipating when Special came into her life.
The other big story was the Grass Wonder being medically cleared to compete once more. She was determined to make a comeback as one of the top racers in Team Rigil. Unfortunately two of her opponents were Silence Suzuka and El Condor Pasa. Speaking of Pasa…
Despite giving Special Week the race of her life last time she was no match for Suzuka, thus ending her undefeated streak. She took it well. Suzuka meanwhile thanked her friends and her sweetheart for cheering her on to a more splendid flawless victory.
Good episode. Let’s hope the Suzuka’s leaving subplot is short lived. Then again…if the writers really want to write off Suzuka for a while the ONLY WAY it would make some sense would be if it ended with Special and Suzuka having a race for the ages. Most of us predict that’s where the story is heading.
