Mitsuboshi Start Episode 5: Moetopia

Let’s briefly go over Mitsuboshi and go right to Slow Start this time.

Kotoha and a kendama.jpg

Kotoha and a kendama.

We joined Colors testing out some old toys Pops gave them. Of course they felt like doing it next to Officer Saito, further solidifying my theory that it’s their fault he turned him to the dark side. Anyway Kotoha became enamored with a kendama despite having no idea how it’s used, instead flinging it around like a spiked flail. Sadly they’re millennial children who had no respect for old-school. I do hope Kotoha will use the kendama again in later episodes.

Yui reading a sad story.jpg

Yui after reading the Poor Elephant.

The next sketch was a two-parter. It began with Colors reading a sad story. Why anyone would write a book like that is beyond me…then again internet critics would eat the story up. So the suffering of the elephants motivated our heroines to go to the zoo and save the elephants from starvation. Also there were many puns along the way. Surprised Kotoha didn’t burst out laughing though she did laugh several times.

Tiger eating.jpg

Tiger eating.

At the zoo children in the 8th grade or lower could get in for free…which led to Colors thinking the zoo was going through hard times. This thought process was magnified when they saw a tiger eating and believed the bone came from Pops because he’s a big guy. Kotoha wanted to challenge the tiger to Mortal Kombat but couldn’t for obvious reasons.

Shoebill.jpg

Shoebill. I still don’t get why it was one of the more popular Friends.

Hard times.jpg

I shouldn’t have laughed but couldn’t help myself.

Once again the day was saved thanks to Colors!

On to Slow Start with Kamuri dreaming about her one true love.

Kamuri forgot her skirt.jpg

Kamuri forgot her skirt.

Kamuri was so deep in thought thinking about Eiko she forgot to put on her skirt. Luckily she didn’t forget her panties and Eiko lent her her gym shorts. This talk about Eiko led to Tomato remembering her being so popular pictures of her were being sold in middle school. To Kamuri’s delight she gave her the last few she had for free.

Young Eiko wearing long sleeves.jpg

Young Eiko wearing long sleeves.

When she looked at the photos she asked Eiko if this really was her. The reason for that was because before the two reunited in high school Kamuri saw the back of someone she thought to be Eiko on more than one occasion but was too shy to ask if the mystery girl was indeed her.

Teacher checking out Eiko's skirt.jpg

Teacher checking the goods.

While Kamuri tried solving that mystery we joined Eiko and Tomato asking Sensei why she was wearing sports pants. This scene is a reason why official art exists of Eiko X Sensei. Also Sensei is yet another addition to Eiko’s harem.

Kamuri helping Eiko recover.jpg

Kamuri’s healing head pat.

Eiko’s guard was broken. Thankfully Kamuri was there to heal her.

Eiko attacked by Doppelgangers.jpg

Eiko attacked by “doppelgangers”.

Back to the “girl who looks like Eiko but isn’t Eiko” mystery Hana and Tomato joined Kamuri in solving it. Tomato and Kamuri brought up doppelgangers among other kinds of demons. Poor Hana believed the two and feared for Eiko’s life.

Eiko, Kamuri and Miki.jpg

Eiko, Kamuri and Miki, aka Mickey.

Thanks to Hana and Tomato combining their exorcist powers to uncover the truth it was revealed the “girl who looked like Eiko but wasn’t” both Hana and Kamuri saw at some point was none other than Imouto-Sauce herself, Mickey! Mickey was preparing for her high school entrance exam and asked Eiko for advice. The backstory to Kamuri and Eiko is a bit of a long one. Short version is Kamuri overheard the high school Mickey was applying for and thought that’s the school Eiko was going to despite Eiko herself not being certain that’s the one she wanted to apply for at the time.

Eiko and Kamuri's touching moment.jpg

D’awwwww.

The episode ended with a scene that’s sure to bring joy to most who saw it. So much “d’awwwwww”.

Also make sure to stay tuned after the ED for bonus cuteness.

Good stuff from both shows yet again.

Before we finish the post let’s continue the tradition of sharing Mai-chan tweets:

Yes. I know I forgot to gush about Cousin Shion and mention Hiroe’s scene but aside from Mai-chan’s thoughts on it that’s all they got this episode, one scene.

I’m starting to think Slow Start deserves it’s own section, nothing against the Colors, but reading them together is a bit weird when the Colors are a cute harmless comedy show while Slow Start is competing with Citrus for gayest show of the season, and it might actually win.

Because a lot people here loves them some Colors and there’s enough to discuss weekly. Some fans suggested I cover all my Winter shows separately but I’m too far into the game to change course now. Plus I have a lot of other stuff to cover besides the Winter season.

Slow Start is for fans who prefer light-hearted Yuri whereas Citrus is for the drama crowd.

I am sad you made no mention of the hilarious ongoing plot of Yui’s plight throughout the episode. It was handled quite masterfully and led up to the Hansei corner (I’ve no idea what the subs call it)

I don’t’ really ship the teacher and Eiko, seeing as Eiko didn’t enjoy what the teacher did, and various other things. Especially since Kamuri’s really obviously the one who is actually for her. Also, I think people forget they’re the same age sometimes…

Their dynamic reminds me of Natsuki and Mio (Rainbow Stage), and I could see them becoming more like that couple by the third year.

Colors: While testing models of their new combat aircraft, the evil Saito attacks, snatching one out of the sky! He attempts to use it for his own nefarious purposes, but Kotoha stops him with her new attack, the Kendama! After hearing a report of the local zoo starving and poisoning their animals, the Colors spring into action to help! After facing off with a nefarious tiger and a starving tour guide, the Colors found proof of a mice-as-food conspiracy, and fed the starving elephants!

Slow Start: Kamuri forgets clothes when thinking of Eiko? What a shock.

At the moment it looks like Sensei is trying to add Eiko to her own harem, and Eiko isn’t quite ready for this fight.

Tama: It looks like the last boss has appeared.
Eiko: I CERTAINLY have NO IDEA what you could be talking about.
Eiko, thinking: She will be tough. I’ll need a little more practice before taking her on.

Fortunately Kamuri has healing powers to aid Eiko.

Hana and Tama using their magical girl powers was excellent.

The unanswered question of Kamuri’s parents: Are they Eiko x Kamuri shippers, or part of Eiko’s harem? I’m hoping a little from column A, and a little from column B.

I think Hiroe’s reached the limits of convenience store training. Maybe next week she can tackle clothes shopping by herself and surprise Eiko.

Your own spin on the Colors coverage along with others wanting to talk about it makes it worthwhile to continue covering it.

Sensei doesn’t have a harem yet. What she is is Eiko’s greatest challenge. Can the hunting prodigy conquer a seasoned veteran beauty?

They most likely support their daughter’s pursuit of Eiko’s 💓.

I will continue providing 100% accurate Colors episode summaries. 😛

She hasn’t been shown to have one yet, but I suspect she has built one by now. Either way, she’s definitely final boss material.

Eiko will have to work on that.

More Kotoha with that Kendama please, only her can use it to create a weapon to surpass Metal Gear.

The opening of Slow Start with and Kamuri and her kittens was destructively cute, my heart went on an overdrive when Kamu started dreaming about her one true love, Eiko. Not wanting to stop here, Kamu’s reason for forgetting her skirt is beyond gay and adorable but I think she still looks okay without…..well….with her undershirt. And I believe that them head pats of Kamu can heal even the most broken of souls EVER!

Damn, Sensei has finally claimed her seat in Eiko’s harem and she’s the only one who can physically and mentally overpower the “succubus” so raise your awareness Eiko. Also, am I the only one fantasizing Mickey being part of the harem? (There’s nothin’ wrong with yuri incest 🙂 )

The part between Eiko and Kamu at the end is omega kawaii, especially when Kamu tried to rapidly attack Eiko in the cutest manner ever. Also, boobs snuggle ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Oh and that post ED part where Hana calls Eiko a “Kamuri Whisperer”, PRECIOUS…

      That would be swell.

Kamuri and Eiko is Omega kawaii levels of cute indeed.

Hmm, no. Mickey isn’t giving off wincest vibes yet. Perhaps in due time but not right now.

Ah yes. Gotta mention the Post ED scene.

I might actually go with Hiroe x Shion and Hana x Tama, that seems like the safer bet.
Tlso, are you sure that Eiko isn’t the one who ended up in some sort of nebulous harem situation?
That sensei is dangerous, but she’s another rival for Kamuri-chan to annihilate when she eventually dominates the world.
Also I watched all of Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome over the past 3 or so days, was good, but not as much yuri as I was expecting, there were plenty of forced het couplings though.

Those puns were lethal. And i too burst out laughing at the hungry tour guide bit.

Slow Start nearly killed me again with the overflowing cuteness! A Kamu and cats is a truly deadly combination! The Kamu Head pat, the Hanna/Tomato Magical girl scene, All Kamu/Eiko scenes, ect. This entire episode is full of cuteness. I dont now how much my heart can take! Also KamuEiko is my favorite ship of the show. Another fantastic episode.

Colors: Sometimes I feel bad for officer Saito. Only sometimes. The sad children’s book is for the children to develop empathy. Kotoha kept laughing at Sat-chan’s high quality jokes, she is the clever one.

Slow Start: What a beautiful episode. I have no other words. Also I hope the teacher will have an episode dedicated for her. And then we’ll see if she’s one of Eiko’s harem or Eiko’s rival.

I have to admit that this was a cute episode, which is not surprising since it focuses on Kamuri. It’s nice how Kamuri is lucky to find the school Eiko plan on going so she can reunite with her. Kamuri is definitely a precious cinnamon bun.

Also, it’s funny how Kiyose still wants to join Eiko’s harem. Looks like the competition will become fierce, or maybe not.

I’ve once read the elephant story that Colors were reading, and the saddest part is that it’s a non-fiction. Wartime stories like that are in Japanese school textbooks, probably to teach children that war causes misery.
I feared Kotoha might get a wrong idea and try to torture animals, but thankfully she wasn’t that heartless after all.
Kotoha in this episode seemed to be more reserved than she usually is, except for “the tiger eating Pops” part, acting like normal kids would. This made me love Kotoha all the more.

Haven’t checked Slow Start yet, but I will in a few days!

  11. That smile on Kamuri’s face meant that she forgot on purpose and that was exactly what she wanted to happen

I think Eiko might have found someone more powerful that her

I get the feeling that Kamuri’s parents ship Eiko and Kamuri

I thought that Kotoha wouldn’t be fazed by that story but to my surprise she was! She’s isn’t as twisted as she lets on (which is good because if she wasn’t affected, you could infer some…crazy things about her, hehe).

Whoa, that zoo was in such a state of disarray that they had to feed the tiger actual humans! (RIP, Pops). Anyway, the zoo was saved thanks to the Colours! Sat-chan was on fire with the elepuns. Also, poor Yui; she was trying to get Sat-chan to laugh at her puns but to no avail. Quite the running gag at this point.

Aww, Kamuri missed Eiko so much. Also, I should’ve known that the Eiko-alike that Hana and Kamuri saw was her sister Mickey (“みきです”). She’s absolutely lucky that Eiko decided to go to that school because she would‘ve been up the creek without a paddle to say the least.

Enami-sensei dealt a near-fatal blow to Eiko’s mental health but thanks to Kamuri’s ‘Healing Headpat’ skill, she recovered nicely.
