Time again for the hearts of peeps following this show to be filled with absolute joy.
We joined Kiri and an upset Satsuki refusing to take a day off but Kiri retorted that working hard every day won’t be enough to allow her to leave Konohanatei. She reluctantly accepts the off day.
Yuzu attended to Satsuki and she spoke about appreciating the beauty of the world around them. These words touched Satsuki enough to invite Yuzu out on a date (As Kiri so eloquently pointed out) since she had the day off too. Yuzu of course was ecstatic.
Before going on their date Ren disapproved their not-so improper appearances and had Satsuki fix herself up while she tended to Yuzu. She then blurted out that Satsuki was working hard so that one day she could leave Konohanatei and become a priestess.
There was much tail wagging and tsundere appreciation during the date. They also talked a bit about the various races walking around town. While Yuzu had many human guests at her old place she didn’t know much about the outside world despite her impressive knowledge. She thanked Satsuki for inviting her out and Satsuki had a hard time saying “You’re welcome”.
As their date continued they passed by two guys talking about a dry sakura tree at a nearby shrine. Yuzu, thinking about Satsuki leaving one day asked her to go to the shrine, which lit a fuse. She angrily said no but she didn’t talk her down. She told her to wait there and not get lost as she went to the bathroom. Yuzu was smitten by her kindness.
Suddenly a “ghosty” girl showed up looking for her spooky imouto. Yuzu offered to help her look.
After finishing her “business” Satsuki conveniently ran into the spooky imouto. She…convinced Satsuki to help her look for her onee-san. While searching Satsuki, in her own way, related to the imouto as she talked about her onee-san who was annoying and didn’t take her seriously (or something like that) but was still awesome. Satsuki felt similarly about her own nee-san. I’m not sure what kind of ghosts/spirits the two are but they seem to be guardians of the city. I’m sure someone with knowledge on Japanese folklore can help explain in the comments.
If I understand Satsuki’s flashback correctly, she wanted to become a priestess, which her sister Hiiragi was cool with, but everyone else wanted Hiiragi to become one. Probably because she’s older. I think Papa agreed with Hiiragi but Mama said to listen to the higher ups and send Satsuki to Konohanatei instead of Hiiragi.
Sensing a…”kindred spirit” in Satsuki the spooky imouto took her to the dried up sakura tree in hopes that with their combined “imouto-ness” they could revive the tree and make their sisters proud, more so the ghost onee-san. The onee-san noticed right away and used her power to revive the tree herself.
What followed next between our leading ladies served to further strengthen their OTP status.
Another great episode. Before leaving though…
This is a the manga version’s relationship chart. Hopefully the anime will follow suit. Based on what we’ve seen so far it’s a safe bet they’ll at least give us plenty to work with.
