Gabriel Dropout Episode 1: Satanichia Dropout

The title is a double entendre. What do I mean? Read on to find out.

Gabriel nearly giving in to sin.jpg

We kicked off the show with the main ANTAGONIST, not protagonist, Gabriel’s backstory on how she went from being one heaven’s most promising angels to potentially one of the saddest archangels. She was a sweet, devoted angel wwho wanted nothing more than to lead the people of Earth to prosperity. Unfortunately she was consumed by a great evil that had taken the lives of many innocent teeenagers, myself included, and led them astray to a path of absolute darkness of which there is no return. The darkness inside Gabriel’s heart had awakened and taken over completely.

In present day we joined one of the show’s main protagonists, Vigne, being forced to put her noble duties of leading the world to an honorable dictatorship on hold in favor of guiding the evil Gabriel to the light, both literally and figuratively. Unfortunately the fallen angel was determined to not make it easy for the adorable and righteous demon. Even so, she would persist in her honorable mission no matter how difficult it will be.

8 minutes in and we are introduced to the show’s TRUE protagonist, Satanichia. The heir of the Netherworld whose main goal is the fair, just and admirable one of ruling over all human peons with an iron fist. Truly a praiseworthy mission. One day she will lead our pathetic planet to chaotic prosperity and I pray for our adorable future overlord’s success.

Of course her journey to the throne will not be an easy as she must face numerous obstacles, endure countless hardships and overcome many a terrifying beast but like a true heroine her resolve will never waver. Truly a wonderful protagonist to root for.

As if the above mentioned dangers were not enough our heroine would also have to butt heads with someone who may be far darker than Gabriel, if that were even possible, Raphiel. Truly Satanichia’s journey is full of danger but I will continue rooting for our mighty heroine’s success.

As readers can tell I eagerly anticipate more of Satanichia and Vigne’s danger filled lives as they work extra hard to combat the holy terrors they are stuck with.

It’s been a time since I’ve read the manga, but I don’t remember them going that into detail about how Gabriel was before the “fall” and even how the “fall” occurred. I could be wrong, but if I’m right, it was quite the nice touch for the adaptation.

Either way, this was a very enjoyable premiere and I look forward to more!

  2. 8/10; Pretty good, lots of materials to work with. Except for some scenes i found ridicculous, but nothing to make me mad…for now.

I watched it after a long day at work and man it was hilarious. There wasn’t a single Satanichia scene where I wasn’t laughing. I was really anticipating this show because of the seemingly “role reversal” between the heavenly and evil characters.

The cockroach and dog scenes sucked the life out of me. Looking forward to the next episode!

Ha, I feel so bad for Satanichia! Video games really do make people evil, I am a victim after all.

This show really made me laugh out loud. They all freakin’ switched roles 😀
Raphiel the most evil and that’s why I don’t usually trust girlish, gentle, sweet-looking characters because they’re dark side are the darkest of them all. Is she originally like that or did she just awaken as well out of boredom?

I’d like to see the reaction of the people in Heaven knowing how their top angels are doing the complete opposite of what they expected to do. Maybe Vigne and Satanichia will end up going to Heaven later 😛

Gabriel’s a true gamer — she even has spare cat-5 cables handy for those inevitable occasions when you rip off your console from the wall in rage XD
