Urara Meirochou Episode 1: Adorable Fortune Teller Trainees

One of my 2017 Winter season picks has premiered and I am here to talk about it. As of this post there are no English subs. Yup. It’s time for the good old Spanish subs again.

Sexy Chiya.jpg

The episode started with our leading lady Chiya, a girl who seems to have lived most of her young life in the wild. This would explain her strange of custom of showing her belly while apologizing, which of course resulted in the chick magnet captain of the guards to almost get a nosebleed. So yes. She arrived at the city of Meirochou, a place where certain girls gather to study on how to become professional fortune tellers, or Urara. Also because Chiya was raised in the wild animals really like her and chill with her when possible. She was framed as being the leader of some animal thieves who stole food to give her. When the captain of the guards was called, the above image is the result.

Sexy Chiya, Kon and Pram.jpg

While running Chiya bumped into a yamato nadesico named Kon, who may or may not be a kitsune and Miss Pram (or Pu-chan,) the heir to a wealthy family. All three girls were sent letters of invitation to become professional Urara. Chiya however, had no idea what an Urara was for she had a different reason for coming to Meirochou, she was searching for her mother. The reason she waited so long was because she was told to wait until she turned 15 because that was the age where girls would be called upon to become fortune teller trainees.

Nina and Nono.jpg

Before the captain banished all three from Meirochou the appointed master of the three, Nina, offered to commit seppuku to apologize for them. Obviously the captain reconsidered. After that we were introduced to the fourth member of the group, Nina’s imouto Nono, the super shy girl behind Nina.

Nono's doll.jpg

After that several kinds of fortune telling techniques were shown such as tea leaves, tarot cards and Nono’s creepy doll that she uses to convey her hidden feelings disguised as the doll’s. The most important technique shown in the episode was Kon’s “Kokkuri-san” method which is kind of “Japanese Ouija”. When Kon tried to read Chiya’s fortune there was only darkness. I wonder what it could mean?

Chiya wanted to make sure if Kon was a kitsune by seeing if she had a tail.

The captain's loyal girlfriends.jpg

Last but not least we got to meet the captain’s loyal one-sided girlfriends, Oshima and Shiozawa. Will the two end up falling in love with each other or continue trying as hard as they can to make the captain notice their love for her?

In any case I really enjoyed the first episode. The fortune telling stuff is cool, the girls will definitely have some cool stories to tell and there is plenty of yuri to work with.

It was very cute and more yurific than I was expecting. Also a fairly unique premise with unique character traits.

I just finished the first episode, the moe almost gave me a heart attack. The yuri potential sticks out quite a bit, and the ecchi factor isn’t too out of place/obtrusive, I’m going to have fun watching this one for sure.

  8. Five minutes in and it has already proven itself to be a 2017 Yuri Anime of the Year worthy. As expected from a Manga Time Kirara anime, this is so moelicious. Tummy and navel fetishes are a nice bonus but the fact that this is set in an all-girls world is wonderful heaven for yuri fans. Finally, it is about time we see more cute reverse traps.

Oh yesssss! Definitely loved the first episode and the captain, she’s so cute :3 For someone who grew up in the wild, Chiya, looks really decent and can speak human. I thought she’d be more Tarzan-ish and have one of the girls to be her Jane 😛 But how she is now great too 😀

I don’t know which technique is scarier Kon or Nono’s. Any kind of Ouija be it Japanese or American it’s still ouija and that’s scary -_- and so is a talking doll. And LOL at Pu-chan’s tarot ways 😀 .

Well, this first episode was fun and I can’t wait for the next one :3

I was fortunate to watch the episode with English subtitles and man it was so good. Probably because the characters are cute and fortune telling is something that interests me. There are lots of potential shipping material based on the OP. Hahaha I think Captain Saku has her eyes set on Nina tho. Looking forward to the future episodes of this show!

    P.S.
I hope Chiya will continue to s̶t̶r̶i̶p̶ expose the girls’ bellies when they apologize.

For a Girls Club love, every season needs to have a show like this!

The setting of Meirochou is somehow reminiscent of Gochiusa. The girls are cute and likeable so far, each with her own way of fortune-telling except for Chiya.
It does seem promising yuri-wise as well, and I also wonder what’s going to happen to those captain fan-girls too.
