2016 Yuri Visual/Kinetic Novel Western Releases Tracker

Just a post keeping track of as many upcoming 2016 yuri themed visual novels and others featuring yuri routes.

The Sad Story of Emmeline Burns

The second commercial released VN by ebi-hime. Not as somber as Asphyxia but that does not mean the somberness is absent. Pick up the game on Steam for free with exclusive bonus scenes. There’s also a free itch.io version but without the bonus scenes.

Review of the game here.

Strawberry Vinegar Header

The third Steam released commercial VN by ebi-hime. The most lighthearted of the three but it still contains some of the vintage ebi-hime charm courtesy of the cynical protagonist. Pick the game up at Steam.

Review of the game here.

Sacrament of the Zodiac

A straightforward yuri game with H-scenes where the gimmick is that the perspective can be switched between the two lovers almost any time during the game. Switching also unlocks scenes exclusive to each lover. Pick the game up at Denpasoft (NSFW Warning).

Review of the game here.

Kindred Spirits on the Roof

A big VN featuring 7 potential yuri couples, each with their own engaging blossoming romance complete with believable and close enough realism. It’s a bit pricey but totally worth it. Pick up the game at Steam or at Mangagamer (NSFW Warning in the MG link). Both versions are uncensored.

Review of the game here.

Atom GRRRLL!! Cover

Atom GRRRL!!

A “Tarantinoesque” kinetic novel set in the United States about a girl and her connection to a gang and a rival gang. This game will not be for the faint of heart. Readers can get the game at Steam (with a separate uncensored patch) or the uncensored version at Denpasoft. NSFW warning for both links.

Β Review of the game here.

Starlight Vega main-screen

Starlight Vega.

A game where the lead can choose to court one of two hot demon babes or her gal pal. The game is available for purchase on Steam and Itch.io

Check out my review here.

Catch Canvas Cover

Catch Canvas.

Play as either a male or female lead in an art academy educating and attempting to court one of three lovely ladies. No confirmed release date as of yet but I predict Fall 2016 the latest.

Highway Blossoms

Highway Blossoms.

To me this was the surprise reveal of 2015. It’s hard to explain exactly why I’m especially pumped for this one. Maybe it’s the Americana setting. Get the game HERE.

Check out my review of the game HERE

The Stargazers

The Stargazers.

Space and mecha themed VN with a “choice perspective” approach similar to Sacrament of the Zodiac. Currently its release date is unknown but I predict late March to early April.

There are also plans to release Chapter 1 of The Reject Demon Toko and Dizzy Hearts later this year as well.

FLOWERS by Innocent Grey

FLOWERS – Le Volume Sur Printemps -.

One of the big three releases of 2016 along with Kindred Spirits and the next one I’ll mention. This one was scheduled for a March 21st, 2016 release but due to the negative reception the demo got it was delayed for some much needed quality checking. It was worth the wait though I feel as the game’s official release has seen a massive improvement in translation.

Check out my review HERE.

Shadows of Pygmallion

Shadows of Pygmalion.

Dunno how much yuri the game contains (I know there’s no sexual content) but it’s definitely there and I’m very intrigued. Since Kindred Spirits didn’t take too long to prepare for its big release I predict the same for Pygmalion, meaning a mid-late 2016 release.

Nurse Love Addiction

Nurse Love Addiction.

Medical college students studying to become nurses and one lovable ditz finding love among four other women. That’s the setup. There is more to it than that though…

Check out my review of the game HERE.

Ne no Kami

I mentioned Sacrament of the Zodiac before and am doing so again because this title is by the same company, Kuro Irodoru Yomiji. I felt they did a good job with a Petals style story in Sacrament of the Zodiac so I’m interested in seeing how they’ll adapt a story with a bit more meat to it than the casual and intimate relationship between cute girls. The game will be split into two parts with the first part coming in July and the second part in October.

Sakura Dungeon Main Screen

Sakura Dungeon

A sexy dungeon crawler with 75% naughty yuri and 25% romantic yuri. Get the game on Steam or Denpasoft.

Check out my review HERE.

Hustle Cat Logo

Hustle Cat.

Like OZMAFIA!! or “Seduce Me! The Otome” if your otome game also has one or more yuri routes I’m interested. The game is available on Steam and itch.io.

Read the review here.

Seduce me 2 logo

Seduce Me 2: The Demon War.

Yet another otome game with yuri routes. This one taking place during a war of demons. Check the game out HERE.

Check out the free prequel here.

Soul Set

Magic, mystery, dragons, sexy female lead, yuri routes…AND POSSIBLY JAMMIES! If all goes well a September release is expected.

Rising Angels: Fates and Rising Angels: Hope

Here’s the funny part about this upcoming sequel to Rising Angels: Reborn. The above two are examples of otome games with a yuri route or two. RA:F is an example of a yuri game with one otome route. I find that amusing. RA:H will be a remake of the prequel to Reborn, Rising Angels: The Red Rose with new additions and tweaks and it will be released in three parts during a six week span. Hope is already out while Fates will come out sometime later this year.

Check out the Rising Angels: Hope review here.

Ladykiller in a Bind title

Ladykiller in a Bind.

Honestly I’m just guessing with this one. Maybe it’ll come out this year. Story about a woman who cosplays as her twin brother, goes on a cruise, meets several of her bros’ flames and associates. Rated M shenanigans ensue.

A Little Lily Princess clip

A Little Lily Princess

A yuri game based on the A Little Princess novel from Hanako Games, makers of such titles as Long Live the Queen and Black closet (Should get to reviewing those sometime). Most of these games have strategy and time management gameplay mechanics in them and I’m sure LLP will be no different. Get the game HERE.

Check out my review HERE.

Sweet Volley High Start Menu

Sweet Volley High

Female lead, three female romance options and one male for the otome crowd.

Drusilla Dreams

Drusilla Dreams.

Yes, the trailer and art style aren’t that impressive but ya never know. The end product could be better than expected. Besides, it’s a yuri tale that takes place in Ancient Rome. Get the game HERE.

Check out my review HERE.

Love Is Strange Logo

Love is Strange.

A fan made yuri VN featuring Chloe and some other fine ladies from the Life is Strange series for Max to court. The game is available free of charge.

Amplitude Cover

A game about body swapping with several potential yuri pairings. This one is scheduled for a September release.

Caramel Mokaccino

Caramel Mocaccino.

Another coffee shop game like Hustle Cat but there’s something about this one that makes it stand out. A December 2016 release is planned.

I think that’s about it for now. If there are any I forgot, let me know in the comments section. Again, this is a checklist of yuri visual/kinetic novels set to come out in the West this year.

A yuri story in ancient Rome sounds pretty interesting, and A Little Lilly Princess looks adorable! I’m excited for all of these releases.

Like you I’m also especially pumped for Highway Blossoms. I watched its trailer and was really taken with its setting, atmosphere, and its art style. I really like the girl’s voice too. It’d be so swell if it had England voice acting but I haven’t yet played a western released yuri VN that does (not that i have played many). So the dub was probably just for the trailer. But still even without dub I’m still planning to play it when it comes out.

If the game sells well enough a future free English patch is possible.

Hey! I’m one of the devs for HB; glad you’re excited. The voice acting was just for the trailer but depending on how the game does we might look into adding voice acting. Kinda hard to find talented VA’s who will voice hentai scenes though :/

There you have it dood. All in good time and if fortune smiles, it could happen at some point. Thanks for dropping by and explaining it to us Raithfyre!

Hi raithfyre, thanks for replying and the information. I really appreciate it when devs are so responsive to the fans. For me personally, I wouldn’t mind at all if the voice acting does not include hentai scenes. If they voice all the other scenes like conversations etc. I’d be just as thrilled πŸ™‚ Of course other fans might feel differently…

Also I understand hiring actresses will increase cost so I’m willing to pay more (and hope other fans will too). I’m super pumped!

Yes. Considering past experiences with English dubbed H-scenes…maybe it would be best not to voice those.
Yup. I’m pumped as well as you both may have noticed.

Sound like a wonderful yuri filled year ahead of us… ‘cept I’m going to be broke by the end of it.

I wonder if we are entering into a new age of yuri. The VN market was always small in terms of the yuri genre and now we are seeing new growth in it, small but it is growing.

    • OG-Man says:

The new age began around 2014 so you are correct.

There have been 50 to 100% yuri titles sneaking around in the West before the recent boom but yes, yuri VNs have become more commonplace in the West nowadays. Yay for that!

Sadly the growth remains small. For now let us be thankful there IS some growth and do our best to help the flame grow stronger each and every day.

Glad to see many yuri VN’s will be released this year πŸ˜€

FLOWERS – Spring Arc, Shadows of Pygmalion, Ne no Kami and Highway Blossoms πŸ˜€ I’m very happy for all of these releases πŸ˜€

Btw, I agree if we are entering into a new age of yuri, but market of yuri remains small, especially VN and light novel about yuri.

I have read about postscript Itsuka Sekai wo Sukuu Tame ni – Qualidea Code volume 2, the authors sheds some light on the reasons why there are so few title with female protagonists and yuri because it doesn’t sell much, so the editors tell authors to not write like that unless they have very good reasons (source: http://yaraon-blog.com/archives/77645).

Some of these actually look surprisingly good. I’m looking forward to Highway Blossoms, FLOWERS, Shadows of Pygmalion and Ne no Kami. I should get to Kindred Spirits when I can too.

  9. BoxPuppy says:

I would recommend Astoria: Fate’s Kiss(in it’s third season now) & Gangsters in Love(going into it’s second season this week), both Otome games feature a lady for your heroine to romance, the former also has a non-binary character as a love interest as well. No one in the game dies and all get happy endings.

Each season gets three chapters, each chapter gets six parts, along with to POV switches depending on what you get on your love meter(except the last chapter, it has 5 parts, two endings, and a special date for your heroine and love interest). As well as other specials in the stories lines( three part long side stories).

You can get them on the istore and google play, each chapter is $2.99, and each special is $1.99.
