Otome no Teikoku Anime Announced

So this came out of nowhere.

Viewers who frequent Dynasty Scans may be familiar with this title’s English translation, Virgins’ Empire. That manga series is getting an anime. It was reported in a Grand Jump Web article that Otome no Teikoku, a manga written by Kishi Torajirou, would be getting a “little” anime. There was also mention of an upcoming trailer July 17th so stay tuned for that.

As for my thoughts, maybe the anime version will amuse me more as the manga doesn’t do much for me. The series currently has 7 volumes worth of content so I doubt it’ll be shorter than 12 or 13 episodes.

I’ve read each chapter and some are more amusing than others. A short anime would fit this manga perfectly. full 22 minute episodes might stretch it out too much and lose the flavor that this manga has.

  2. cirno9fan says:

It’s definitely gonna be a short. There’s no way this would work as anything else.

BUT SERIOUSLY!?!!? OF AAAALL THE YURI MANGA OUT THERE THEY DECIDE TO ANIMATE THIS ONE?!?!? Ugh, this doesn’t make me happy at all, even if there is at least one anime out there (however short) that will be full blow shoujo-ai, because it’s just feeding to the flames that yuri is a joke. Girl friends is a PERFECTLY GOOD (if not slightly cliche) yuri manga and would do AWESOME as an anime, I think. WHY DON’T STUDIOS ANIMATE THAT!? But yet this crap gets greenlit >_>??? Not even the american yuri fans like it, going to mangafox and mangahere, the manga is rated so low.

Ugh. I think i’m going to watch it anyways because there’s really just not enough yuri stuff out there to enjoy. So yeah, let’s see how this turns out.

Thanks for letting us know! These news also came as a shock to me O_o

I dunno about “yuri is a joke” being the message it provides at all. If anything, it’s just giving a more down to earth look at how “yuri” would be in a highschool full of sexually frustrated girls.

A better example of that would be the myriads of examples of harem anime that have one girl who’s a lesbian that is after the main heroine, and has zero chance, and is usually portrayed as some kind of lunatic/jerk, and just there to make the relationship between the MC and the main heroine stronger.

Not to say I wouldn’t rather have lots of other manga animated, but I just felt you weren’t really being that fair to the manga at all.

What cirno9fan said. Yes there are many better series to adapt but while I too do not think the manga’s funny it could be better animated. Also the humor isn’t degrading to lesbians at all. It’s just ecchi and the girls are very close to not being subtle about their feelings. In short, harmless raunchy humor that isn’t at all degrading compared to lesbian characters in het harems.

      • I hold the hope that if this makes some cash, we might get sth bigger of Kishi-sensei. Probably they chose this exactly of the short format, but I’d love to see MAKA MAKA or Bloody Mary as full series. Kishi-sensei knows how to draw female bodies and although his style does appear to be targeted at men, it isn’t silly or over the top

I know, it’s almost annoying. We can’t progress (with yuri animes) if we only get stuff that it’s only meant for a few laughs and nothing that talks about sexuality and more interesting themes. And like I said before, Girl Friends as an anime would do reaaally good since it’s popular and it has a nice lovely story and until this day it’s surprising that it hasn’t happened. Why studies can’t give it a try? Or at least make an original yuri anime that isn’t just something that goes nowhere. /sigh/

Hopefully they can change it up then the manga

  5. animelover32 says:

I’m honestly really surprised. Out of all the Yuri manga they could animate, they choose to animate this one?

Sighs Oh well. It’s a Yuri anime at least. So I’ll just look at this positively.

  6. yurimylove says:

any yuri anime is good anime! having said that, I must concur that there’re better choices. Besides the ones mentioned above, Sasameki Koto could sure use a good concluding season too…

This really did come out of nowhere. I’m actually still a little shocked, but in a good way~

I don’t know anything about this manga but that fact says a lot for me. I’m really into yuri. Anyway I’ll watch it and see how it goes, though I hate animes with short episodes, I think this will be the case (?).
