Yuri Kuma Arashi Episode 12: And then…Again.

Yup. Not going to come up with a creative subtitle for the finale. Fans who have stuck around up to this point have been itching to see the conclusion so here we go.

The G-View will most likely be written tomorrow. It’s the post-Wrestlemania RAW. That takes top priority Monday night yo.

Ginko ready to be executed

Really? An execution? Then again the death sentence debate is still going on so I guess it’s appropriate the Invisible Storm would want to copy that for the sake of maintaining order. Idiots.

One last time

One last time girls.

Still going

I bet Cyber-Squirrel-Bear really would have liked to have switched places with the Energizer Bunny.

Playing heelAbrupt moment

Was this really the right time to be having this conversation? Well, stranger things have been discussed before executions.

Huh

Huh. So Kureha was gay from the start. Neither Ginko or Sumika pushed her to the yuri side. She just forgot because of the power of shaba-da-doo.

Speaking of…

Well now

Sooo if I got this right Kureha went to trial before Ginko did…and it was Kureha who implanted Ginko’s desire for Kureha’s boobs in her soul?

Also…for some reason thought of The Frog Prince and Shrek began entering my mind. “Are they seriously going down that route?” I thought.

Anyway that was the past trial. Time now for the present trial featuring Teen Kureha.

Well done Kureha

And Sumika paid the ultimate price by becoming one with my mistress. Well, as long as her sacrifice wasn’t in vain.

Shaba-da-doo one last time

“Yabba-Dabba-Doo” and “Scooby-Dooby-Doo”, eat your hearts out! Shaba-da-doo 4EVA!

AHA!

Guess it was all according to plan. Now I know some people will proudly proclaim “called it” and to that I say…”so?”. Didn’t make it any less awesome.

Wait…maybe she chose this form for a reason…why the heck was I suddenly thinking about a Jesus metaphor? This confusion felt really good in all honesty.

Okie dokie

Annnnnnnnnnnd part of the internet probably went “FU Ikuhara!”, which would be hilarious as is usually the case with internet communities.

Anyway I guess my Frog Prince/Shrek hunch were kinda right.

Kuma Kureha

Hey if this is what it took to FINALLY get a passionate kiss…fine. That was my mindset as all this was going on.

FINALLY!

I’m good. Screw all those “this could have better if it went like this” rants. I wanted an ending where the leading ladies professed their love for one another and kissed and I got it. Better than Penguindrum’s supposedly profound conclusion that I didn’t care for because I had lost all interest in the characters by that point.

Yay

And because this a lewd yuri show we had to have kiss in the nude. Cool.

It was at this moment I was thinking…WAIT! There’s still some time left…oh crap. There is still a chance for a swerve.

Lezbears united at last

What was with that blooming rose? ROFLMFAO!

I was ready. There’s still time…

What the

Wait a second. Why is she the only one the light is shining on?

Oh my goodness

Guess that was a figurative way of saying “Screw you guys. I’m going home to make technomagical cyber-squirrel-bear human hybrid babies.”

Hmm…bittersweet conclusion, I guess. I dunno. Again I got my promise kiss so I’m good. At least unlike Penguindrum I still cared about everyone to the end.

Tune in tomorrow for the G-View.

:3 I shed happy tears at the kiss haha, seriously, they HAD to kiss, more than once even ❤ … Sumika thing,ok cool, but i’m confused about the very last part… ah can’t hide spoiler things here .. you know ,the part where SHE is reading the story to HIM.. I was like.. eh? why? what? when?

All in all, I kinda wanted Kureha to go that route,I’m glad she did,now she can live in..some.. place? with Ginko and kiss a lot.

I guess that girl going with cyber squirrel means more and more girls will give in to lesbian love not caring for species, bears or humans, all is good? It’s kinda logical it would take time, maybe years, I liked the “realistic” touch. As realistic as it could get with this.

Yes. It is exactly what you think. It’s not that hard to figure out.

Assuming that place is where I think it is. Their ultimate fate somehow feels familiar.

That was the message Girl X and CSB becoming lovers was meant to convey

It’s nothing complicated. Bear heaven or a sacred paradise. Hey if Michael Bay can give Transformers their own heaven, why not one for lezbears and their relatives?

The episode exceeded my expectations but…well, my expectations had gone pretty low after 11. I won’t go any further with that. I guess I was right to be hesitant about it from the start. It definitely had quite the start. Things got a little rocky in the middle, and then things really picked up, and then, well, you had 11-12.

Was this all a story by LuLu that she read to her younger brother? I mean, in a way it makes sense, because they became bears in the end and not humans, not to mention they’re both alive… Unless it was her reading a book she made in the afterlife to then read to him after it all happened, even knowing how it all ended to.

I doubt it’s just a story cos you can hear Kureha,I think, saying thank you..and Kumaria sama also says they are like just gone… That bit got me confused, I guess it’s a bear afterlife… or something

To be fair though, the is a huge amount of weirdness in confusion in this anime, no point nit-picking at the end really.

Oh yes, we finally got our long awaited lip lock scene, far too few of those in the yuri universe (Though I wont be happy until all my favourite pairings have their lip lock scene, that’s why I need plenty of HarukaXYuu doses as possible)

It was kinda an all right ending which wrapped everything up nicely but i think the anime failed for me because it was a bit overhyped as THE yuri anime. Calling it the Gundam of Yuri was a bit over the top by the Producer…

So, Kureha and Ginko were shot to death, went to the lezbears heaven, which is different from the bear heaven. And a revolution started, in which humans and bears may live together. Anyway, it was a good ending, despite lots of things being shrouded in a fog of symbolism. Also, nice kiss at the end.

While I’m disappointed that Lulu is going dead for real, I can’t complain about the ending we got. It makes sense that Kureha would become a bear because humans refuse to accept the yuri their society appears to be built around while bears aren’t afraid of expressing their desires. In a way, I’m actually glad Konomi could find someone who truly loved her rather than merely used her and tossed her to the wayside as soon as she become “inconvenient”.

Oh well as long as the ending didn’t disappoint. Kureha looks so cute with those bear ears 😛 The soundtrack really fit the last scene where Ginko and Kureha were walking towards each other. And Lulu’s happy, yay! 😀 Truly an awesome happy ending. It’s a double thumbs up, if I had another thumb I’d make it a triple thumbs up.

The ending is strangely fulfilling for me…
I know what the ending going to be from episode 3, I know the message from around that time too, but for some reason this ending just make me comfortable about the whole series and make me want to rewatch it…

It is a good if not a brilliant ending and take off a lot of weight I have when I watch it (am I thinking it right? Why is there only few kiss? etc.)…
It sadden me that the series isn’t that successful sales wise, but it will be a series that I remember the most in winter (Shirobako is fall, so it still hold true)…

If you see the previous Ikuhara’s work (excluding Utena’s movie) this is probably the sweetest (Utena is a bit confusing whether the two girls end up together or they understand each other love while Penguindrum has the lovers separated by dimension, I think, it kinda count as yuri end actually if you see it from certain angle)…
Maybe his future work going to be more enjoyable for mainstream viewer (thus easier to sell) and sweeter yuri end (as in, they become couple and be alive)…

What a lovely (if ambiguous) ending! Don’t get me wrong. Ikuhara THRIVES on ambiguity. He makes his statements and lets the audience deal with the fallout. Now I know why Kureha was on trial. She made the wish for Ginko to become human because it would be easier. Thing is, love isn’t supposed to be easy. Living her life as an “out” bear-lover would be full of indignities and petty hatred. Kureha was so worried about the approval of society, that she forgot that Ginko didn’t need their approval. All she needed was Kureha’s love. For Kureha to give up her love just to make her life a bit easier was a shocking betrayal. I’m glad she came to realize her mistake and correct it.

If you’re wondering about Sumika, I’d say she existed to remind Kureha what True Love is like. Love is not proud, and Love is patient. Love is worth fighting for, even when everyone else is against you. Kureha learned that to love Ginko, she didn’t have to change her. She just had to love who Ginko always was. Instead of dragging her into a world where she would always be excluded, Kureha met her on equal ground. By becoming a bear herself and meeting Ginko outside this cruel world, together they will forge their own path across the stars.

There’s a TON of meta things going on, having to do with Lesbianism and Japanese culture, but I’ll save that for later. For now:

    YURI APPROVED!

Yeah, I really hoped Kureha would smash herself ( her ego ) and instead placing herself in Ginko’s place, thus becoming a bear. I loved the ending, even if I didn’t quite grasp the thing with Lulu… I mean,I kinda got it…but not totally.

The hardships one deeply in love must endure, especially one who’s in a “forbidden love” according to society.
Oh I had a feeling Sumika would return after my mistress did the same before her. Besides she had a similar role as Symphogear’s Kanade towards Tsubasa though not in the symbolic sense.

      Yuri approved indeed.

the light is separating her the way it did Kureha and Ginko and Lulu in the past -it’s a sign of visibility and resistance

I might not have liked the ride but damn this ending! Truly marvelous! The camera work, the colors, the music and the message that it’s wrong to wish for your partner to change and take it for granted they’ll be fine with the change ❤

Since everyone already did the debating/explaining/stuff, all I gotta say is that I loved the anime and will be sad for a while knowing it has ended. I can’t wait to pick up more just to go through this cycle again haha. I love how openings are used as endings in the last episodes of anime and it’s usually always timed well. This case was no different. The kiss was well worth the wait ❤ and Ginko was super cute in her bear form when she was arguing with Kureha. JesusSumika caught me off guard and Lulu in Heaven broke my heart but at least she’s happy. I want to go to Yuri Heaven too! The ending was nice with the CSB and twintails. Liked the overall message. Maybe rewatch in the future.

Well, that was quite the finale. Kureha and Ginko got their happy ending, even if the IS shot them dead…maybe. I liked that Kureha owned up to her selfishness and realized how she really felt about Ginko and I especially liked how the twin-tailed Invisible girl was the only one who saw what happened to those two in the midst of the shooting. I also liked how she basically just said “Screw this!” and walked out on the IS’ assembly to start her relationship with Cyber-Konomi.

Maybe Sumika was Lady Kumalia or maybe Lady Kumalia just happened to look like her. Either way, it was nice seeing her be the one to ask Kureha that last question.

Lulu’s happy herself. After all, she’s with her kid brother in the afterlife. That’s how I see it.

    All in all, loved it.

      Quite the ending it was.

My theories are that she was either Yuri Jesus or she chose Sumika’s form because that was Sumika was a person who had a very strong influence in Kureha’s life. One of those or Sumika did fall in love with Kureha and wanted to protect her from the IS’ corruption.

Yes. Let us never forget Lulu’s greatness, and this show’s greatness for that matter.

I posted a thread talking about this ending and most people didn’t actually mind. Tsubaki kept her human emotions, mentality etc. Just felt like I wanted to tell you that.
